CMP As-Issued Pistol Match Information
Purpose of Match: The purpose of these matches is to provide an opportunity for new and experienced shooters to learn and practice conventional pistol shooting techniques. While no instruction class will be offered at these matches, experienced coaches will be on the line to assist beginning shooters.
2022 Match Dates: February 20, July 17, November 20.
Course of Fire: This is a 40 shot match with all stages conducted at 25 yards on an NRA B-8 target (5.5 inch black bullseye).
· Stage 1 - Standing with a one-hand or two-handed grip. 5 sighting shots and 10 rounds for record (5 + 5 with a reload) in a time limit of 10 minutes.
· Stage 2 - Standing with a left single-handed grip. 10 rounds for record (5 + 5 with a reload) in a time limit of 5 minutes.
· Stage 3 - Standing with a right single-handed grip. 10 rounds for record (5 + 5 with a reload) in a time limit of 5 minutes.
· Stage 4 - Standing with a one-hand or two-handed grip. 10 rounds for record (5 + 5 with a reload) in a time limit of 70 seconds.
Note: Official CMP scorecards will be used with scores reported to CMP.
Rules: CMP rules will apply. This is a no-alibi match. Competitors are expected to ensure that their equipment is in good working order. All competitors must have eye and ear protection.
Equipment: Pistols will be grouped into two categories - "As Issued" and "Military and Police Service Pistol". Pistols must comply with CMP Rule 7.2.1 and 7.2.2 to be considered as-issued, essentially M9 and M1911 pistols without accurizing. Rule 7.2.3 defines Military & Police Service pistols. Glock and Springfield Armory XD pistols with barrels no longer than five (5) inches are permitted. Cartridges can be no smaller than 9mm or larger than .45 cal. Barrels not more than five (5) inches. Single or striker action trigger pull of not less than 4.0 pounds. Pistols may not be match conditioned and must be equipped with standard issue non-adjustable sights. All competitors must have eye and ear protection.
Ammunition: Ammunition used with Military & Police Service Pistols must be loaded with full metal-jacketed round nose bullets.
Start Time: Squadding starts at approximately 1 hour after completion of the morning GSM match but no later than 12:00 pm. The match typically starts ½ hour after sign-ups and squadding but no later than 12:30 pm.
Entry Fee*: Members - $10. Active-duty Military and juniors - FREE. If a participant paid for the morning GSM match the same day, the entry fee for this event is waived.
Entry Process: All entries must be made on the BRRC website. Go to the event calendar, find and clink-on the match you wish to enter, then follow the instructions for on-line entry. You will be asked to provide your email address and phone number which will allow us to contact you if there is a cancellation.
Awards: CMP achievement pins will be awarded to competitors who fire qualifying scores with qualifying pistols.
Age Restriction: 16 and older.
Match Cancellations: Rain may cause cancellations. If there has been rain in the Castaic area two or three days preceding the match, use the Contact Information below to verify that the match will be held. Brush fires in the area or high-fire danger or high winds are also possible causes for match cancellation.
Liability Waiver: Competitors must sign a BRRC waiver of liability before being allowed to compete. Members will be required to complete the form once per calendar year. Non-Members will need to sign a form for each match.
CMP Affidavit of Eligibility: A notarized copy of the CMP Affidavit of Eligibility must be on file for each participant. This is a "one time" requirement by the CMP. If you have an affidavit on file with BRRC, you do not need another. The affidavits are available on the CMP website.
