CMP Sanctioned XTC Match

The tournaments at BRRC are held to promote participation in Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) High Power Rifle competition, to promote good sportsmanship and rifle marksmanship, and for competitors to establish CMP high power classifications in Across the Course competition at full distances (200/300/600 yards).
2026 tournament dates (2nd Saturday of the month): February 14, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 13, July 11, September 12, October 10, November 14. There will be no events for January, August or December.
Course of fire: the 80 shot Highpower Rifle Standard Course, maximum range of 600 yards and two sighters at each stage:
The format may be changed to the National Match Course (50 shots), or other variations of the stages listed above and reduced targets may be used, as range conditions dictate.
Rules: current CMP high power rules will apply, Rule 6.5 for the 80 shot course of fire, this is considered a Club Match under the CMP rules. Rifle categories include CMP Service Rifle, rule 5.1.1; CMP Alternate Rifle, rule 5.1.2; M14/M1A Type Service Rifle, rule 5.1.3, M1 Garand Type Service Rifle, rule 5.1.4; and Match Rifle, rule 5.1.5. Safety Flags (empty chamber indicators) are required. Ear protection is required. Any disregard for safety, at the discretion of the match officials, may result in disqualification from the match and/or expulsion from the range.
Eligibility and entries: entries are open to all; match fee is $30 for non-members and $20 for members. The fee includes the CMP Sanction fee. No charge to active-duty military personnel. Preference given to pre-entries by registration at www.brrc.org or e-mail (xtc@brrc.org). Match day entry confirmation and squadding are from 7:00 to 7:45. The start time maybe changed (i.e., may start early on hot weather months) and the match director's discretion and competitors will be notified and any change to start time will be listed on the BRRC website.
Walk on entries or late arrivals after 7:45 AM may be accepted at the match director's discretion. No entries accepted by mail.
Club guests (i.e. non-members) will sign a waiver of liability for being allowed to compete, which can be downloaded at www.brc.org/resources/documents/BRRC_Release_Form.pdf. This form must be signed for each match attended.
Entry limits: Entries are limited to 21 shooters, preference given to pre-entries by mail, up to the day before the match.
Firing starts: 8:30 AM, shooters and scorekeepers, are expected to be in position at that time.
Targets and scoring: ShotMarker electronic targets will be used at all distances. Scorekeepers will monitor the shooting activities to check for missed shots and/or crossfires and will be expected to count rounds fired during the rapid-fire stages. Competitors will need to provide their own tablet, phone, or other Wi-Fi enabled device to monitor their results on target and to track scores. If you do not have a device, please contact the match director (at xtc@brrc.org) so arrangements can be made.
Awards: cash awards will be given to the match winner and class winners. A High Match Rifle or High Service Rifle award may be given. Classes and categories may be combined. A minimum of three shooters is required to make a class.
Classification of competitors: CMP high power classifications will be used. Competitors unclassified or unable to show classification may be placed in master unclassified. Competitors who do not have a CMP classification may use their NRA classification until such time as a CMP classification is established.
Match cancellation: RAIN CANCELS! This may include rain prior to match day, which may make the dirt roads impassable. IF THE ROAD DOWNRANGE IS WET, DO NOT DRIVE ON THE ROAD! If there has been rain in the Castaic area (including the Los Angeles basin) during the week preceding the match, use the contact information below to verify that the match will be held, and to receive e-mail announcements regarding range conditions.
General information: Competitors and spectators must provide their own drinking water, food and shade. No potable water, food, or electricity is available at the range. There is no telephone service, and cell phone coverage is almost nonexistent. Portable lavatory facilities are available at the firing line. Overnight camping by nonmembers is available on a limited basis by prior arrangement only. Accommodations are available in nearby Castaic. Due to wildlife activity, we require that no food items or wrappers be put in the trash cans at the range.

Range directions: Take Interstate 5 to the Templin Highway off ramp (about 6 miles north of Castaic) at the foot of the Templin Highway off ramp turn east (right). About 100 yards east of I-I-5 turn left (north) onto Paradise Ranch Rd. Proceed about 200 yards over the rise of the road to where the paved road forks, go right at the fork and continue on past the RV park and the old horsetrack. Near the end of the paved road the road turns left and transitions to a narrow dirt road follow the dirt road past two entry gates and proceed to the range and park. Generally if you stay under the power lines you will arrive at the range.
